Streamyx equipment

Listed below are the equipments that are required for Streamyx

What customers need to provide:

# Telephone line - Telekom Malaysia direct fixed line only (for Streamyx ADSL)
# AC Power supply for the Streamyx modem
# Internal Wiring
# Hubs, Routers, Server (for Networking purposes)
# PC (with CD drive) + LAN Connection Card (NIC)
# DSL Modems (for without modem package)

What TM will provide (for with modem, Enterprise & Corporate package):
# Splitters
# Micro Filters
# DSL Modems

In order to work with DSL system, your PC needs the following minimum specifications:

A) For Windows OS Computers:

# Pentium 233 or equivalent processor
# Windows 98 and above
# 32 MB RAM
# 2.1GB hard disk capacity (30MB of free hard disk space)
# LAN connection card (NIC)*
# CD ROM Drive (for loading the modem software)
* Note: To check whether your PC is equipped with a LAN connection card (NIC), you can either go to control panel/system/hardware/device manager and check the hardware listing or check the slots on your computer for a network card.

B) For Mac OS Computers:

# Power PC Macintosh with system 7.6.1 or later
# 32 Mb RAM
# 10 Mb free hard disk capacity,
# Ethernet port
# Mac OS X version 10.1.2 above only (At present lower versions are not supported)

Customers must ensure that the basic equipment requirements are fulfilled before Streamyx installation.

Notes

# Streamyx basic package is applicable for personal application only.
# Minimum subscription period is 12 months for all packages except with modem rental and other promotion packages.
# Service is subject to availability and technical testing.
# Speed of service is on best effort basis.
# Customer is NOT ALLOWED to change the telephone number (connecting t o Streamyx) before installation of service.
# Customer is responsible for internal wiring, NIC card and networking.
# Self-installation customer is required to prepare own modem before the 7-day auto account activation.
# For Streamyx in-a-box & without modem package:
- Auto account activation is 7-days from the date of registration for self-collection and 10-days for courier.
- RM88 installation fee is applicable only if installation assistance is required.
- For account activation, SMS to STXACTV<---space--->Login ID and send to 33535 three (3) days after registration. Each reply message from TM will be charged RM0.30 to customer’s mobile phone postpaid account or deducted from their prepaid balance. Telco SMS charges for each message sent is charged separately.
- The mobile number used must match the mobile number written in the registration form. Customer may use another mobile number if a personal one is not available.
- Streamyx in-a-box courier service charges are RM14 for Peninsular Malaysia and RM25 for Sabah/Sarawak.
# For Streamyx 2Mbps and 4Mbps, service is available in selected areas in Federal Territory Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Selangor. Service is subject to availability and technical testing during installation. Service availability
# 1st bill received will include the following fees
- RM75 for activation
- RM88 for installation (if applicable)
- First and 2nd month advanced subscription fee
- RM10 for stamp duty fee (effective 1st May 07).
# For account activated on every 29th, 30th or 31st, the current charges for the month will be pro-rated.
# If customer terminates Streamyx before the end of the minimum subscription period, the customer must pay subscription fees of the remaining months and return the modem. Pre-mature termination includes relocation of premise.
# Streamyx bill must be paid before the due date to avoid any service suspension. During suspension period, TM will continue to charge for the monthly subscription fee. RM10 reconnection fee will be charged upon service reactivation.
# Any Streamyx termination (based on service number) is subject to 30 days quarantine period from termination date. Quarantine period is define as a period where the service number is blocked from re-registration in provisioning system.
# Streamyx download and upload speed is guaranteed for local content access only. TM is not responsible for the low speed of either download or upload of international content access.

Requirements

Things you should know:

# The customer premise must be within the service coverage area.
# The customer must have a direct connection through a TM fixed line. This must link the premise to the TM exchange where the DSL is available.
# Ezeephone, ISDN, hunting lines and CDMA service do not support Streamyx.
# Telephone lines served with fiber connections are supported at limited areas only.

Upon any application of the Streamyx service, TM will check that all requirements are fulfilled before the service can be provided to the customer. The applicant of the Streamyx must own a telephone line. Below are the basic arrangements at a customer's premise:

Streamyx ADSL

Connection at customer's premise is as below:
- Telephone Socket to POTS Splitter - RJ11
- POTS Splitter to Telephone set - RJ11
- POTS Splitter to RTU - RJ11
- RTU to Hub/Customer PC - RJ45

Streamyx SDSL

Connection at customer's premise is as below:
- Telephone Socket direct to RTU- RJ11
- RTU to Hub/Customer PC RJ 45

The arrangement is as follows since SDSL does not support voice.
