Disable Windows Vista Sidebar

If you do not have a powerful computer and you are running Windows Vista, you may need to save some resources. If so, disabling the sidebar and gadgets may save you some resources (Figure A).



Figure A. In this example, I have 8 gadgets open on the sidebar and you can see how much memory and resources are being allocated.
Right-click on the sidebar icon on the system tray and choose Properties as shown in Figure B.

Deselect Start sidebar when Windows starts as shown in Figure C.

Right-click on the sidebar icon on the system tray and click exit or reboot your computer (Figure D.)
